Founded by pilots for pilots - VX welcomes new, seasoned, young, older and aspiring pilots alike!
Do I need to be a pilot?
No, you do not need to be a licensed pilot to join. Although most members are pilots, others are learning to fly or simply have an interest in learning at a leisurely pace, while enjoying time around the airport experiencing aviation with a group of like-minded individuals. A minimum of "student" pilot status is required. Members must be 14 years of age or older. VX Sims members who are student pilots are expected to take at least two flight lessons in a real aircraft per year. VX Sims can arrange your flight lessons in the real aircraft which matches the VX1C!
Do I need a FAA Medical Certificate?
No - simulator usage does not require a medical certificate. Whether or not you have a current medical or will ever get one, you may still use the sim and experience flight solo, with an instructor, or in "social" sessions with other members.
Can I talk to air traffic control while training in the simulator?
Please do! The simulator utilizes Pilot Edge, a service that enables communication between pilots of the VX1C and a world of fully replicated ATC simulation, complete with other pilots conducting their flight training as "traffic" that you will see and hear. Access fully qualified ATC on the actual frequencies entered into our replica G1000. It is simulated in real time as you fly. See traffic, hear and talk to human ATC. It's an unparalleled way to hone your skills in a very forgiving environment!
Is there a miminum commitment as a club member?
No - It's totally up to your schedule. It could be just a couple hours a month at the club or many more. You'll be able to schedule the minimum amount of monthly hours included with your plan, plus add additional hours to extend your sessions, as available. In addition, you can jump into "social" sessions that others may have booked, and attend the Club's monthly events.
Can I upgrade my club membership?
Yes, changes to your membership type will take effect at the next billing cycle.
What is a VX Certified Instructor?
Our instructors are dual - certified, which means they are an FAA Certified Flight Instructor in addition to obtaining VX Certification, which each instructor achieves upon proven proficiency in simulated instruction, troubleshooting, lesson planning, and facility training.
When are you open? Can I book special sessions outside of standard hours?
We are open to hourly (booked in advance), Aviator and Captain Plus members Thursday, Friday, Saturday, from 7AM-7PM and for demos by appointment. All Chief Pilot members have 24/7 access.
Published hours allow availability of an engineer, scheduled maintenance and special events.
If you have a need for additional time, please let us know.
Can I bring food or beverages inside the Simulator Room?
Food is not allowed in the simulator or instructor station area.
Snacks and bev may be placed on the high top table.
Do you allow pets in your facility?
We love pets however they are not allowed in the facility.
Can I log flight hours in the simulator?
The VX1C is pursuing FAA Advanced Aviation Training Device (AATD) certification. Certification allows licensed pilots and student pilots under the supervision of an instructor to log limited flight time as allowed by the FAA in this area. Today's pilots blow these numbers away - spending many more hours in the ultra realistic VX Simulator; mastering aircraft systems and developing muscle memory. You'll enjoy visually spectacular VFR and IFR flights nationwide, with the amazing option to sharpen live ATC communication skills through our partnership with Pilot Edge!
